The Indu Lagna is a special wealth point in Vedic astrology, sometimes called the wealth ascendant, used to study a chart's financial promise. Enter your birth details and this calculator works out the Indu Lagna using the fixed kala values of the ninth lords from your Moon and your ascendant, then shows the sign it falls in and how it is read.

What the Indu Lagna Is

Alongside the regular ascendant, classical texts describe extra reference points for specific themes. The Indu Lagna is one of them, dedicated to wealth and prosperity. It is built from a small system of planetary numbers, the kalas, and gives a sign from which the chart's money potential can be examined separately from the main lagna.

How It Is Calculated

Each planet is assigned a fixed kala value, for example the Sun thirty, the Moon sixteen, and so on. The method takes the ninth lord from the Moon and the ninth lord from the ascendant, adds their kala values, divides by twelve and keeps the remainder. Counting that many signs from the Moon gives the Indu Lagna.

A Worked Example

Suppose the two ninth lords add up to a kala total of forty. Dividing forty by twelve leaves a remainder of four. Counting four signs from your Moon sign lands on the Indu Lagna. The planets placed in and around that sign, and its lord, are then studied for what they say about earning and accumulation.

How It Is Read

Benefic planets in or aspecting the Indu Lagna are traditionally seen as supportive of wealth, while difficult placements can show financial strain or effort. The point is read together with the standard wealth houses and Dhana Yogas rather than on its own, since no single factor decides prosperity in a chart.

How to Use the Result

Use the Indu Lagna as one extra angle on financial potential, a starting point for deeper study rather than a verdict. Because it is counted from the Moon and the ascendant, an accurate birth time and place help fix the right signs and give a dependable result.

Indu Lagna Questions Answered

What is the Indu Lagna?

The Indu Lagna is a wealth reference point in Vedic astrology, calculated from the kala values of the ninth lords from the Moon and the ascendant, and used to study prosperity.

How is it different from the normal ascendant?

The normal ascendant is your rising sign, while the Indu Lagna is a separate calculated point focused only on wealth, examined alongside the money houses rather than instead of them.

Is the Indu Lagna enough to judge wealth?

No. It is one factor among several. It is read together with the second and eleventh houses and any Dhana Yogas, since no single point decides a chart's prosperity.

The chart is computed with the Swiss Ephemeris. The Indu Lagna and its meaning follow classical Vedic methods and are shared for study, not as a financial forecast.
