Chinese astrology and metaphysics draw on the same philosophical foundation as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Feng Shui: the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), heavenly stems, and earthly branches from the Chinese calendar. Ba Zi, or Four Pillars of Destiny, builds a birth chart from the Year, Month, Day, and Hour pillars and analyses the element balance to describe personality, career, health, and timing. The tools below also include the I-Ching hexagram oracle, Feng Shui Kua number calculator, Chinese zodiac compatibility, and Lo Shu Grid numerology.

Chinese Astrology & Metaphysics - Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ba Zi (Four Pillars of Destiny)?
Ba Zi builds a chart from four "pillars" - the year, month, day, and hour of birth - each expressed as a Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. Analysing the balance of the Five Elements across the pillars describes personality, relationships, career, and favourable timing.
How is my Chinese zodiac animal decided?
Your zodiac animal is set by your birth year within the 12-year cycle (Rat, Ox, Tiger, and so on). Because the Chinese New Year falls in late January or February, anyone born in early in the year should check the exact New Year date for their birth year.
What is a Kua number used for?
The Kua (or Gua) number, derived from your birth year and gender, is used in Feng Shui to find your auspicious and inauspicious directions for sleeping, working, and the main door of a home.
