Reference Tables and Worked Examples on Tool Pages
A calculator page is mostly method. That is why the Suggest a figure button is not offered on these pages: a section that explains how something is worked out gives an illustration nothing to show. What these pages want instead is the data behind the calculator and a demonstration of it, and there are two buttons for that at the bottom of every tool page in the admin.
Insert the reference table
This puts the letter-value table your calculator counts from into the article, as a real HTML table. It appears on tools in three families:
- Islamic tools get the 28 letter Abjad table
- Chaldean tools get the 1 to 8 chart
- Western tools get the Pythagorean and Chaldean values side by side
Everything else gets no button, because inventing a table would be worse than offering none.
The rows come from the same source your reference pages render from, so the copy in the article cannot say something the reference page does not, and the link back to that page goes in with it. It is placed just above the FAQ heading, a revision is saved first so it is one click to undo, and pressing the button twice is refused.
A table is worth more than a picture of one here. A search engine can read an HTML table and lift it straight into an answer. It cannot read a screenshot of the same table.
One thing to expect: this writes into the article, so that page's translations refresh on the next run. Only the new section is translated, not the whole article.
Draw the worked example
This renders a small diagram of the tool working through its own documented example: each letter, the value under it, the total, and the number it reduces to. It uses no AI and costs nothing. The letters and totals are your calculator's own answer, fetched once and kept for a week.
The picture carries no words at all, only letters, digits and an arrow, so the same file serves every language version of the page. The alt text says the arithmetic in words, for anyone using a screen reader.
It is drawn rather than generated on purpose. Everything in it is letters and exact digits, which is what image models are least reliable at, and a diagram showing the wrong total looks exactly as convincing as one showing the right total.
Tools that do not work through a chain of steps will tell you so rather than draw something invented. On a standard install, twenty of them can produce one.
Once a diagram exists it appears on the page by itself, under the article, on every language version. Nothing is written into your content, so nothing retranslates.
