A report or PDF will not generate

If you asked for a report with AI and the browser showed a gateway or timeout error, the report is very likely still being written. Wait and check your downloads before doing anything else.

Why the error appears even when nothing failed

Writing a report with AI takes minutes. Your browser and the web server both give up long before that and show an error, but the work carries on, because the server has no way of knowing you left. The error means the browser stopped waiting, not that the report failed.

Why trying again makes it worse

Each attempt occupies the server for several more minutes. A few together will use up everything the site has to serve pages with, and then the whole site becomes slow for everyone while the reports themselves are still being written. Only one report can generate at a time for this reason, and a second attempt is refused with a message rather than started.

If it genuinely fails

• Without AI it should be ready in seconds. If the built-in version also fails, the problem is the renderer, not the AI.
• Rendering needs a real browser on the server, which shared hosting does not provide. There the site falls back to a simpler output. Admin, Reports tells you before you generate whether rendering is available.
• Check the AI writer has credit. An exhausted balance stops report writing and translation together, and the dashboard's recent errors panel names it plainly.
